Respiratory protection

On site

In this seminar, you will learn the basic skills for the safe use of group 2 respiratory protective devices, such as full-face masks with P3 or combination filters, which are frequently used in the operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

In addition to how the respective respiratory protection technology works and is used, the training includes information on the basic regulations of respiratory protection, how breathing works and the pollutants that occur. Alongside the theoretical content, the practical use of the respiratory protective devices is also trained.

The aim of the training is to provide employees with the necessary tools to use group 2 respiratory protective devices safely in a nuclear environment. In addition to the purely technical aspects of respiratory protection, physiological aspects are also addressed in order to create a deeper understanding of working under respiratory protection. Practical exercises and real-life examples sharpen awareness of the need for respiratory protection.
The familiarisation exercise and the optional exertion exercise give trainees the opportunity to practise donning and doffing the respiratory protective device and using it without risk. These exercises are usually carried out with a full-face mask and a combination training filter. By arrangement, exercises can also be carried out with other respiratory protective devices and/or in protective suits.

On completion of the training, participants are able, as wearers of respiratory protective devices, to use group 2 respiratory protective devices correctly and safely in accordance with the risk assessment and after instruction.

Theory

  • Respiratory protection regulations
  • How breathing works
  • Effects of oxygen deficiency on the human body
  • Respiratory toxins and their effects
  • Occupational health screening
  • Classification of respiratory protective devices
  • Filter types and limits of use of filtering devices

Practice

  • Donning and qualitative leak testing of full-face masks
  • Familiarisation exercise and optional exertion exercise under respiratory protection
  • Donning and doffing of protective suits (optional)
  • Removing full-face masks with a focus on avoiding contamination

The aim of the seminar is to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to use artificial intelligence safely, responsibly and in compliance with regulations in a professional context. They will learn to identify and protect sensitive data, assess the risks associated with the use of AI, and implement the requirements of the GDPR and the EU AI Act in practice. Furthermore, they will acquire methods for the secure use of AI tools, for developing suitable use cases and for establishing effective governance structures. Practical exercises, sector-specific examples and a final certification assessment ensure that what has been learnt is effectively transferred into everyday working life.
