CLEARANCE OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS AND NUCLEAR FACILITY COMPONENTS

This seminar will provide you with the basic knowledge for the release of radioactive substances. Through clearance, substances leave the scope of the Atomic Energy Act (AtG), the Radiation Protection Act (StrlSchG) and the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV) and are no longer legally radioactive. Particular emphasis is placed on how clearance is implemented in practice.

  • Derivation of extrapolation factors and nuclide vectors
  • Decontamination procedures
  • Release strategies for materials, buildings and ground surfaces
  • Specific clearance
  • Measurement methods for decision measurement (surface contamination, free measurement systems, in-situ gamma spectrometry)
  • Significance of averaging variables

In this module, you will learn about the legal and normative basis for approval. The aim of this seminar is to introduce you to the topic and provide you with measurement strategies and practical experience.
